Bathtub Sex

Bathtub Sex

Whenever my partner & I would book a hotel or airbnb, the first thing we would look for would be a bathtub. It didn’t matter if it was a staycation or outstation trip. There was this feel of luxury, relaxation & sensuality whenever we pictured bathtub & sex.

But the first time we experienced it, it wasn’t as good as the movies make it out to be.

We slipped, I was cold most of the time, she slipped and almost hit her head & underwater lubrication is the absolute worst. It doesn’t matter how ‘wet’ you are.

But, that didn’t mean bathtub sex was bad or couldn’t be just the change of environment you’d need for sex. It just means that it’s a new place that you are not used to.

Hell, the first time I had sex on my bed was awkward too. The first time anywhere, always is. The trick is to be well informed, prepared & practice till you get it right and figure out if it's something for you!

The Allure Of The Bathtub

  • Intimate Setting: Bathtubs provide an intimate space where couples can get up close and personal. The confined quarters force couples to be physically close, fostering a sense of connection that can be incredibly arousing.
  • Novelty & luxury: For many couples, having sex in a bathtub is a novel experience. It breaks the routine and adds an element of excitement to the relationship. The idea of trying something new can be a major turn-on & in India it’s a luxury to have. Not everyone can afford it or have the space for it.
  • Relaxation: There's something inherently relaxing about soaking in warm water. It eases tension and creates a sensual atmosphere that sets the stage for intimacy.
  • Visual Stimulation: Water droplets glistening on their skin, candlelight flickering on the water's surface – the visual aspect of bathtub sex can be incredibly erotic, enhancing the overall appeal.
  • Escape from Reality: While on holiday or at a hotel, couples often seek to escape the stresses of everyday life. Bathtub sex allows them to momentarily disconnect from the world and immerse themselves in each other.

The Reality

  • Space Constraints: The allure of a confined space can quickly turn into a logistical challenge. Bathtubs are not known for their roominess, and finding comfortable positions can be tricky. Depending on the size of the tub.
  • Safety Concerns: Water and slippery surfaces create safety hazards that can kill the mood. The last thing you want is to slip and get injured during an intimate moment.
  • Temperature Control: Maintaining the right water temperature can be a delicate task. It's easy to get distracted when you're constantly adjusting the taps, which can detract from the experience. Or even have the right temperature you both like.
  • Limited Mobility: Water adds resistance, making movements less fluid. This can limit the range of positions and movements available during bathtub sex.
  • Practicality: The fantasy of bathtub sex often doesn't take into account the practical aspects. There's the potential for water splashing, soap in the eye, soap in the mouth, limited support, and the inevitable clean-up afterward.

How Do You Make This Work?

  • Slow & easy: Let the first time you’re in a tub with your partner not be about penetration or orgasms. Let it be about understanding how your body fits with theirs.
  • Consider mutual masturbation: Where penetrative sex or oral play can be difficult to achieve, masturbating in front of each other in the tub can be a gamechanger. Having one person kneel in the tub while the other stands outside it for a variety of other forms of intimate play and increased access to each other is also electrifying. And the best part? You can always dry yourselves up, head to that warm bed outside and finish what you started in that tub.
  • Movement: Remember you’re in a slippery tub, and cramps or injuries could easily occur. Be careful with your neck, be careful with the level of water, and don’t be ambitious in your movements. Looking sexy in a bathtub is hard to do, but the slower you move, the easier it gets to achieve that sense of control and deliberation.
  • Lubrication: Having the right lubrication is important when your genitals are submerged in water. Penetration, protection & lubrication gets trickier but not impossible.

I would even suggest taking along sex toys in the bathtub for sessions. Most of the toys sold in the market are waterproof and can be used in the tub. It’s a great way to feel how penetration would look underwater.

Bathtub sex has become one of my favourite ways to have sex. I have the most fondest memories with my partner in the bathtub & the most fun.

The sleep I have after? Like I have left all my worries behind.
