Whiskey Dick: Navigating Alcohol Induced Sexual Dysfunction with Kindness

Whiskey Dick.

When you have had one too many drinks and you try to have sex but you can’t get hard or or it doesn’t stay hard long enough and sometimes you can’t even cum.

Alcohol is a Central Nervous System depressant. It slows down most of your system, including your sexual organs. It can lead to a temporary dysfunction which could cause loss of erection & lowered sensitivity.

Combine all this with the fact that alcohol also decreases your blood circulation you’re left with a blurry sense of awareness, a cloudy judgement, or a hangover like I have right now and simply not enough blood flow to help keep that penis erect or even let you cum.

The phrase ‘whiskey dick’ doesn’t really cover the real problem, so let’s first call it by its more accurate name— “Alcohol induced sexual dysfunction.”

While embarrassing, scary and even frustrating, it’s actually a lot more normal than we realise.

How do you recover that erection?  Is the answer in giving up alcohol altogether? Or would it help to pace your drinks? Eat more? Drink more water?

Well, yes and no.

While it helps to pace your drinks and remain hydrated and well fed, there is no guarantee that those tactics alone will prevent any interruptions to your sexual plans. It might be best to manage your own expectations as well as any that your partner/s may have too.

Not all sexually intimate moments have to be centered around the penis and how hard they may or may not get. Our bodies cannot be perfect machines, and shouldn’t be expected to perform that way either.

The more you understand your body and its needs, the better your sexual health and confidence will be.
